SCMA is governed by a Board of Directors (Board) consisting of twelve voting members. Ten members are elected from Bargaining Unit 032 (Management) by the voting members in Bargaining Unit 032, and two members are elected from Bargaining Unit 033 (Attorney-Legal) by the voting members in Bargaining Unit 033. Each Director serves a two-year term. For the two-year term commencing July of 2024, there are six seats are open for election. Five seats are from Bargaining Unit 032 and one seat is from Bargaining Unit 033. SCMA is now accepting nominations for these Board seats. If you would like to participate as a Director of the Board or if you would like to nominate a fellow voting member who is in one of the bargaining units to serve on the Board, you may submit your name or a member’s name by completing the online form located at the link shown below. Only voting members, including those who will become voting members before the nomination deadline, may submit nominations. If there are less candidates nominated than there are seats open for election, no election will be held.
Pursuant to SCMA Bylaws (Adopted 03/29/2012) a Voting Member is defined as: “A person whose classification has been assigned to a bargaining unit represented by SCMA, who applies for membership (voting rights) in SCMA, pays the required dues, and remains in good standing.”
Section 7.1 of the SCMA bylaws specifies that the Board of Directors shall hold elections prior to June 30 of each year. The SCMA Board has set the following schedule for the 2024 election:

April 29, 2024 – Notification and nomination email sent to all Members
April 29, 2024 through May 29, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. (PST) – Nomination period for Members
May 30, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. (PST) – Candidate Statements Due to the Election Chair (Blake@scmamgt.org)
May 31, 2024 – Email sent to all members with digital ballot and candidate statements
May 31, 2024 through June 4, 2024 – Voting Period is Open
June 4, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. (PST) – Polls Close
June 5, 2024 – Presentation of election to SCMA Board (Regular June Meeting)
July 3, 2024 – Installation of new officers (Regular July Meeting)
